One priority for Leeds United and Daniel Farke this summer is to strengthen the quality and depth of their forward line.
Leeds United need signings all over the pitch but a centre-forward must be high on the agenda for Daniel Farke and the 49ers. Joel Piroe has no Premier League experience while Mateo Joseph is the same and not yet ready for top flight football in the eyes of many.
Patrick Bamford has plenty of experience and proven quality at that level, but the days of him securing 17-goal Premier League hauls are a thing of the past due to a difficult time with form and injuries for the 31-year-old.
He is also in the last year of his contract and Joseph would benefit greatly from a loan this summer. It means bolstering the striking ranks has to be among the first things Leeds look to do, with at least one new player required.
Leeds United eye Brighton target Promise David
Callum Wilson has been linked to the dismay of Leeds fans. However, per Sacha Tovolieri in Sky Sports Switzerland, David Promise is also a striker on Leeds’ radar, as well as someone being tracked by LOSC Lille to replace Jonathan David.
He reports that the Royale Union Saint-Gilloise management is demanding at least €20 million (£16.83 million) to part ways with the talented 23-year-old Canadian striker. But the player is keen to consider offers from abroad.
That’s despite the fact discussions have already been taking place internally in order to convince David to sign a contract extension, with an exit clause from 2026 instead.
He reports Leeds and Brighton are also very interested in his profile this summer, especially as Joao Pedro is also considered a possible alternative to Liverpool if the Reds were to lose Darwin Nunez and fail to secure top target Alexander Isak.
The report believes that it is certain he is a coveted player this summer, with there being no shortage of requests for the Canadian striker and they are “starting to make his head spin”.
Promise David’s goal and assist record in 2024/25
David evidently has bags of potential at the age of just 23, but Leeds may struggle to beat Brighton to his signature if their interest firms up.
Saint-Gilloise are part-owned by Brighton’s ownership group, with the clubs often feeding players between one another. It complicates any deal for Leeds if they look to pursue it.
He has only been with RUSG since last summer, having arrived from Estonian side Nomme Kalju FC. He hasn’t looked back in the Belgian top flight.
David has been involved in plenty of goals this season, though. At 6’5 he also has the physical attributes which are well-suited to Premier League football in terms of what is required.
