Leeds United have been linked with a plethora of different strikers over the last few days including ones currently playing in the Premier League, and some operating in Europe.
Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson has discussed his future with the nine-time England international set to leave The Toon on a free. Leeds have also informed AZ Alkmaar that £25m is too much for Troy Parrott.
Leeds have also been linked with Everton’s Beto, veteran Jamie Vardy with his 13-year stint at Leicester coming to an end and plenty more. There are doubts over whether Joel Piroe can lead the Leeds line.
Another striker recently linked with Leeds helped his side win the league title on Sunday, scoring a brace in a 3-1 win. But it comes as a blow to The Whites, with his club qualifying for the Champions League.
Leeds suffer blow in pursuit of USG’s lofty star Promise David
Leeds are interested in signing USG striker Promise David this summer, a player that Jesse Marsch has raved about after calling him up for his Canada squad. On Sunday, USG needed to win for the title.
They secured a 3-1 win over Gent with David scoring twice, taking his tally to a whopping 24 goals in just 41 appearances, only starting 29 of those matches and completing 90 minutes in just five matches.
However, the win and league title for David’s USG will come as a blow to Leeds – with the Belgian side now qualifying for the Champions League. Surely, David will prefer to play in the Champions League, now.
Leeds are not alone in pursuit of Promise David, either
The initial report also claims that Leeds are rivalling Brighton for the Canadian giant, as well as Lille. The Ligue 1 side are looking to replace namesake and fellow Canada star Jonathan David, who is leaving.
This weekend, a report from France claims another Red Bull-owned club in Paris FC are also interested. Like Leeds, Paris FC have just won promotion to the top tier having finished in second place in Ligue 2.
David’s goal tally will surely continue to attract suitors as the transfer market edges closer. But with the striker’s USG side now qualifying for the Champions League, Leeds’ chances of a deal have got smaller.
