Everton and Leeds United could be doing business in the transfer market this summer, after trading a behind-the-scenes figure already.
Already this year we’ve seen Everton poach CEO Angus Kinnear from his position at Leeds United. And since then it’s been reported that football advisor Nick Hammond could leave Leeds United for Everton, possibly along with recruitment figure Gary Penrice.
Everton are really raiding the Leeds United backroom as they look to rebuild and re-establish themselves in the Premier League. Though Leeds are looking to stabilise in the top flight too, following their promotion from the Championship under Daniel Farke.
Then on Wednesday it was revealed that Leeds United are interested in Everton striker Beto. The 27-year-old Portuguese frontman joined from Udinese in a £26million deal in 2023 and has since scored 10 goals in 57 Premier League appearances for the Toffees.
Leeds United are linked with several strikers right now with that area in particular looking very light on numbers ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Everton ready to sanction Beto exit amid Leeds United interest
Already we have some further insight on a potential deal taking Beto from Everton to Leeds United. TeamTalk have weighed in on the matter, and they write that Everton boss David Moyes ‘would be open to selling Beto’, adding that ‘Beto could leave Everton for Leeds this summer’.
The same report goes on to add that ‘it is genuinely possible that Leeds could be successful in their pursuit of Beto’ this summer. It comes amid the Toffees’ move to their new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium ahead of the new season with the club looking as though they might have to do some savvy transfer business to keep the books in order.
Meanwhile, Leeds United look set to spend big this summer. Several reports have stated that the Whites have a transfer budget of £100million this summer and Beto could easily eat up half of that if he joins the club, though no latest transfer value has been revealed.
Leeds United may have to pick between Beto and one other striker
Reports linking Leeds with a move for Beto have come out at an interesting time. It’s also been revealed that Leeds United are weighing up a bid for Troy Parrott at AZ Alkmaar and it’s said that he’d cost little over £21million.
For Farke then, spending £50million on two strikers might not be in his best interest as that would be half of his summer transfer budget gone in one go.
There are other positions on the pitch that arguably need as much attention like in goal and in the full-back department and so Leeds really need to be sensible with their spending this summer.
