Who could feature on Leeds United 2024-25 released list as 24 contract decisions imminent

Leeds United will soon announce their retained list following the conclusion of the 2024-25 season and here are the names that might not be on it.

Leeds United still have a trip to Las Vegas for one final celebration but, before too long, the parties will end and the hard work will begin.

Daniel Farke has already made it clear that ‘top-class’ decisions will have to be made throughout the summer if Leeds are to survive in the Premier League.

Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton spent millions last summer but still came back down, so it’s not just about spending big but spending it wisely.

Big decisions don’t just include signings, though, but the call to keep Farke as manager, which players should be sold and which should be released will all be important as well.

Leeds will soon announce their retained list and here are the players that might not be on it.

Who Leeds United could release this summer

Leeds have three first-teamers whose contracts are currently set to expire on June 1, while two more who spent the season on loan at Elland Road will return to their parent clubs.

In addition, decisions will have to be made on the fates of 19 young starlets from the academy.

Who will Leeds United try to give new contracts to?

In total, up to 24 footballers could leave Leeds this summer when their contracts with the club expire.

Josuha Guilavogui has long been expected to depart Leeds after his one-year stay in Yorkshire but the fates of Sam Byram and Junior Firpo remain up in the air.

It does look like Firpo is set to depart, though, with a return to Real Betis highly mooted.

Reports suggest local hero Byram may be released but it would make sense to keep the experienced full-back for squad depth.

Joe Rothwell and Manor Solomon will return to their parent clubs, though Leeds appear keen to bring the latter back. However, it appears they have competition for Solomon in Marseille.

Meanwhile, a whole host of youngsters could see their time at the club come to an end but Leeds may yet offer new deals to some of the most talented, like Rory Mahady, Joe Richards, Max McFadden and Harvey Vincent.

It’s going to be a busy summer of incoming and outgoings at Leeds.
