Report: Decision made as Leeds United ready bid for Turkish international, it's not what Farke would've wanted

Besiktas Throws Cold Water on Leeds United’s Kilicsoy Bid

Leeds United’s pursuit of Semih Kilicsoy has hit an unexpected snag after reports from Turkey suggest Besiktas plan to loan rather than sell their prized youngster this summer. Initial whispers claimed the Whites were preparing an £8.5 million bid for the 19-year-old, but plans have now apparently shifted.

According to Turkish daily Milliyet, Besiktas officials believe Kilicsoy still needs regular minutes to fulfil his talent – and a loan move would suit all parties. That stance leaves Leeds’ transfer strategy in limbo, especially if head coach Daniel Farke is reluctant to gamble on a short-term deal.

As an experienced editor, I can’t help but feel this is a minor transfer market masterstroke by Besiktas. By retaining the option to recall or re-evaluate after a season, they maintain control of a player whose value could skyrocket. For Leeds, it’s back to the drawing board.

Another Missed Coup: Leeds Lose Out on Bright Osayi-Samuel

It isn’t just Kilicsoy slipping through Leeds’ fingers. Earlier this summer, the Whites were also linked with Crystal Palace’s new signing Bright Osayi-Samuel, only to see that deal conclude without Elland Road in the picture. The Nigerian-born winger opted for Selhurst Park, dashing Leeds’ hopes once again.

Osayi-Samuel’s move serves as yet another reminder of how competitive and unpredictable the Premier League transfer market can be. Despite weeks of speculation, Leeds were out-maneuvered by Palace’s quicker negotiations and the lure of top-flight stability.

In my view, these setbacks underline a bigger issue: Leeds need sharper recruitment processes. With limited time and resources, missing out on two promising Turkish talents in quick succession could hinder their push to remain competitive next season.
