With the Championship season finished and promotion to the Premier League secured, the rumour mill is fully underway with Leeds United expected to have a very busy summer.
Already, Daniel Farke’s side have been linked with new signings from all over the world – though the main aim seems to be recruiting players with Premier League experience. Leeds have over £100m to spend.
The latest reports say part of that £100m kitty could be spent on Everton striker Beto. The £26m forward has been reborn since David Moyes’ return at Goodison Park, scoring seven Premier League goals.
But Beto is not the only player to be linked with a move to Elland Road as The 49ers and new sporting director Adam Underwood look to build a team capable of survival. Now, Leeds want a Besiktas player.
Leeds make move to sign Besiktas and Turkey ace Semih Kilicsoy
Still only 19, Semih Kilicsoy has broken into the Besiktas side and already clocked up 81 senior outings. He has had a hand in 25 goals during that time – scoring 16 and laying on nine, playing out wide or up front.
Impressive stats, considering 38 of those 81 have come from the bench. A report from Turkish outlet Yeni Asir says Leeds have ‘made a move’ to sign Kilicsoy this summer and a delegation will jet out to Istanbul.
Talks are scheduled with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, who have improved under the Norwegian’s tenure. Kilicsoy has been in and out of the starting line-up, and Leeds could agree a loan-to-buy deal for him.
Leeds face plenty of competition for Kilicsoy with Newcastle keen
A previous report from Milliyet says that Newcastle are leading the race for the four-time Turkey star, who captains Turkey’s U21 side and scored 42 goals in 64 games for the second string at his boyhood club.
A fee of £16m is required to sign Kilicsoy with Aston Villa also touted as a possible destination. It is unclear how much Leeds would have to pay to agree a loan – and whether that would be an obligation.
Kilicsoy does look destined for the Premier League though given his potential and stats at such a young age. Whether Leeds can throw themselves to the front of the queue remains to be seen, this summer.
