Report: La Liga giants open talks to sign £12.8m Leeds United target but Farke has a glaring advantage

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has a huge summer ahead. Inevitably, it could be a summer that defines his long-term future at the club.

Daniel Farke will remain in charge of Leeds United going into the summer and into the 2025/26 Premier League season. It comes after a lot of noise about whether or not the 49ers would sack him following promotion.

And Farke will have the final say on transfers at Leeds United this summer after a shake-up behind the scenes at Elland Road, with Angus Kinnear leaving as CEO and Adam Underwood stepping up as sporting director.

Already we’re seeing several players linked with Leeds United ahead of the summer transfer window including some names the club have been linked with before, like Aaron Ramsdale at Southampton, and some new ones too.

Another familiar trend at the club is Farke targeting players he’s worked with before like his former Norwich City duo Emi Buendia and Josh Sargent.

Sevilla make Max Aarons move amid Leeds United interest

Max Aarons is another former Norwich City man who Farke has kept his eye on, too. It’s been claimed that Leeds United are interested in signing Aarons this summer with the right-back having seemingly fallen out of favour at Bournemouth, joining Valencia on loan in January but failing to make much of an impression there, with just two La Liga appearances to his name.

Now, an emerging report from Football Espana reports that Sevilla have opened talks to sign Aarons, whilst confirming Leeds United’s interest along with Sheffield United’s interest too. The same report also writes that Aarons ‘would be keen on a switch to Sevilla, and personal terms are not expected to be an issue’.

Lastly, Football Espana write that the deal would be a loan-to-buy. Bournemouth are understood to be asking for between €12-15million (£10.2-12.76million) for the 25-year-old.

Not the first time Daniel Farke has tried to sign Max Aarons at Leeds United

Last summer, Leeds United needed a right-back, and they eventually signed Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United who proved to be £5million very well spent.

But Farke needs more depth in that position and in the full-back department in general and Aarons being someone he knows (the advantage Farke has in this transfer race), and someone facing an uncertain summer, seems like a very sensible signing for the Whites.

It comes after Leeds United tried to sign Aarons last summer but couldn’t make a deal happen. It shows that Farke, whilst at Leeds, has been keeping tabs on Aarons for some time, and he clearly thinks he’s someone who can benefit the team.

At more than £12million though, it’d be a gamble on a player who’s yet to really prove himself in the Premier League.
