The latest Leeds United transfer news and rumours with fresh updates on Abdoulaye Doucoure, Kasper Dolberg and Kalvin Phillips.
It’s been a great week for Leeds United fans as they got to watch one of their own in Archie Gray defeat Manchester United and lift the Europa League trophy with Tottenham Hotspur.
It won’t be long before there’s even more to get excited about when the summer transfer window opens on June 1.
Leeds have money to spend this summer as the club looks to strengthen Daniel Farke’s squad so it’s capable of defeating Man Utd, too. Though it might be good enough for that already.
Yet, more will be needed for top-flight survival and here are the latest Leeds transfer rumours.
Abdoulaye Doucoure prices himself out of Leeds transfer
Abdoulaye Doucoure’s release from Everton was confirmed earlier this week, with his contract expiring in the summer.
Leeds are on the lookout for Premier League experience this summer and the veteran midfield general certainly fits the profile with 277 appearances.
Though he is 32, a move for Doucoure on a free transfer could make a lot of sense for Leeds.
However, just because there’s no transfer fee doesn’t mean a deal would be cheap and TeamTalk reports that Doucoure is demanding £160,000 a week at his new club.
That is miles more than any Leeds player is on and Doucoure would likely only get such high pay if he heads to Saudi Arabia.
Leeds linked with Anderlecht’s Kasper Dolberg
A new forward or two or three is a big priority for Farke in the transfer window, with Brenden Aaronson flattering to deceive in the Championship, let alone the top flight.
The latest name to emerge is former Ajax wonderkid Kasper Dolberg, who is generating interest from Leeds, according to Voetbal Krant.
It’s reported that his side, Anderlecht, have placed a £12.6m price tag on his head and, though Dolberg never reached the promise he showed in Amsterdam, he is coming off the back of his best season with 24 goals in Belgium.
Kalvin Phillips Leeds return edges closer
Talk of Kalvin Phillips returning to Leeds has been on everybody’s mind long before promotion was even secured.
Though he did win the treble in his first season, Phillips’ career has gone downhill at City. There were signs of life at Ipswich Town last season, but he still hasn’t recaptured his Leeds form.
But a return to Elland Road could be just the place to do so and Phillips’ move to Leeds has seemingly edged closer thanks to Pep Guardiola’s threat that he will ‘quit’ City if he doesn’t get a smaller squad.
The demand could also help Leeds sign James McAtee, while a loan deal for Phillips might be the best approach, as he is still contracted until 2028.
