EFL ruling leaves Daniel Farke with 11 day wait to discover Leeds United’s chances of deal for free agent

EFL ruling leaves Daniel Farke with 11 day wait to discover Leeds United's chances of deal for free agent

The clock is rapidly ticking for one player linked with Leeds United. In 11 day’s time he could be free to move to Elland Road.

Leeds United will see their summer transfer window open on June 1st for 10 days, following their promotion to the Premier League under Daniel Farke.

The English top flight is opening their summer window early to accommodate for the Club World Cup, before closing it for six days then re-opening it for the summer.

Already we’re seeing some new names linked with moves to Elland Road. Sean Longstaff is linked with Leeds United along with the likes of Bright Osayi-Samuel, Jamie Vardy and more.

There’s also players tipped to leave. Patrick Bamford could be leaving Leeds United this summer, possibly along with Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood who are up for sale following promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds United have to wait 11 more days to discover Grady Diangana fate

Another player linked with a summer move to West Yorkshire is Grady Diangana at West Brom. It’s reported that Leeds United are interested in signing Diangana who sees his Baggies contract expire this summer. He was previously signed for £18million back in 2020 but he’s steadily fallen out of favour in the last 12 months.

As Leeds United went on to win the Championship title West Brom went on to finished in 9th place of the table after abruptly sacking Tony Mowbray. Diangana started just one of the last six games of the season, ending the campaign with four goals and three assists in 34 league appearances.

And per EFL ruling, clubs have until May 17th to inform the players on whether or not they’ll be handed a new deal and kept on for next season.

Grady Diangana’s Premier League record makes for grim reading

Diangana was a very exciting young talent emerging at West Ham once upon a time. And for the Baggies he’s been a decent servant although many of their fans might argue that he never really fulfilled his price tag, scoring 26 and assisting 22 more in 202 total appearances for the club.

But his record in the Premier League, in 20 games with West Brom and 17 for West Ham makes for very grim reading.

For Farke, signing Diangana on a free transfer doesn’t exactly set the bar high for Leeds United, nor does it send a message to the rest of the Premier League roster that Leeds are here to compete.

Even as a squad signing, this one doesn’t look all that exciting for Leeds United.
