A priority for Leeds United this summer will be to sign a new goalkeeper. The Whites cannot afford to go into the 2025-26 season with Illan Meslier as the club’s no.1 choice.
Indeed, if Leeds fail to sign any new goalkeepers this summer, Daniel Farke may keep Karl Darlow as his no.1. The Wales stopper came into the side for the final seven Championship games of the season.
Phil Hay thinks Meslier is done at Leeds and an exit is inevitable for the Frenchman, who will enter the final year of his contract this summer. Darlow is expected to revert to back-up goalkeeper at Leeds.
So, Leeds need a new goalkeeper and have already been linked with nine shot-stoppers ahead of the summer window. The latest being Bayern Munich’s Israel international Daniel Peretz, who is set to leave.
The nine goalkeepers linked with Leeds United this summer
Aaron Ramsdale – Southampton
Ramsdale is looking to leave Southampton and avoid a fourth career relegation from the Premier League. With the World Cup on the horizon, Leeds are keen on Ramsdale and his relegation release clause helps.
Caoimhin Kelleher – Liverpool
The Ireland stopper is set to drop down to third-choice at Liverpool with The Reds bringing in Giorgi Marmardashvilli. Leeds are eyeing a £40m double deal for Kelleher and left-back Konstantinos Tsimikas.
Nick Pope – Newcastle
Pope remains first choice at Newcastle but could be involved in a goalkeeper merry-go-round. The Toon are keen on James Trafford, and Leeds are looking to take advantage by luring Pope to Elland Road.
Djordje Petrovic – Chelsea
Petrovic has enjoyed a wonderful season in France with Liam Rosenior’s Strasbourg. Leeds want Petrovic, but with Chelsea needing a goalkeeper and Leverkusen also eyeing Petrovic, a deal feels unlikely.
James Trafford – Burnley
Leeds are said to have Trafford on their shortlist after he was nominated for the Championship Player of the Season award alongside Dan James. But it feels like there is little chance Burnley sell to a direct rival.
Conan Ledesma – River Plate
Experienced Argentine goalkeeper Ledesma was linked with Leeds in January, but has since come out and given the green light for a move by saying he would like to join The Whites. Nothing has come of it since.
Sam Johnstone – Wolves
England stopper Johnstone is expected to leave Wolves this summer. Leeds are eyeing a £10m move for Johnstone this summer, but his addition would be somewhat underwhelming should he sign for Leeds.
Finn Dahmen – Augsburg
Dahmen has enjoyed a wonderful season, called-up as back-up for Germany’s latest squad. Leeds have added Dahmen to their shortlist, but Augsburg have triggered a contract extension to protect the asset.
Daniel Peretz – Bayern Munich
Just this week, Leeds are said to be in talks to sign Bayern’s Peretz. It comes after playing just seven times for Bayern since joining in 2023. But Burnley, PSV and Genoa are also in talks with the Israel goalkeeper.
